Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day, is celebrated as the final day of feasting before the Lenten fast begins on Ash Wednesday. Historically, it is a tradition for Christians to use up rich, forbidden foods like butter, sugar, and eggs by making pancakes, often shared at community or church suppers.
